Random Kindness...

Check out this testimony from Kaylyn!

"During my usual, long drive to school in Cypress, I noticed a girl at the bus stop that I recognized as the girl I sat behind in Psychology. Immediately I felt God telling me to pick her up. Shocked, nervous, and confused, I attempted to talk my way out of listening to God’s voice. I avoided the request until I was in the parking lot at school, using the excuse that I was already here and didn’t have time to go back and pick her up.

I forgot about her until the next Thursday I had Psychology. I drove by like before, and instantly felt God tell me to pick her up again. This time, I listened. I made a U-turn and began to pray like crazy. I wasn’t sure how she would react to me pulling up to her and telling her to get in the car. I had never said a word to her. I didn’t even know her name. All I knew is that God told me to pick her up and that is exactly what I was going to do.

When I pulled up next to her on the street, I rolled my window down and asked her if she wanted a ride. She said sure, got in the car, closed the door, and I continued to drive to school.

I seriously and honestly expected her to feel the presence of God as soon as she had gotten into my car, but it was quite the opposite. She began to throw the “f-bomb” into every sentence she said, telling me about her boyfriend that she met online just two days before.

Every time I pick her up, I pray. I pray that God will change my heart so I can love her because I absolutely cannot love her without His help. Even though I have not seen any results of my ministering to her, or even received a “thank you” for every Tuesday and Thursday I pick her up, I know that by my random act of kindness and my obedience to the Lord that I planted a seed in her, and God is working in her and she doesn’t even know it yet."

Not Ashamed of The Gospel

Last night at The Seeking, God spoke to one of our awesome leaders, Luis!

"Well, when I feel God speaks to me, its almost always in pictures or visions. At the Seeking when I asked God to speak to me, what he showed me was very challenging.

God showed me a vision of myself on a stage, in front of a large crowd of people. When I looked closer though, the crowd of people became people I recognized. These people I recognized though, were the friends and family in my life that weren't saved. On stage I was ready to perform, but when confronted with the fact that I knew everyone in the crowd, I hesitated.

I believe that what God was showing me through the vision was that as Christians, we are all on stage in a way. Once people become aware that we are Christian, often times they will look closer at what you do, and how you act. You are now in the spotlight, whether you like it or not. Also, being that the crowd was made up of unsaved friends and family, God was challenging me to do what he has set us upon this Earth to do, Evangelize. If I truly love my friends, then don't I want them to also share in the inheritance that we have been qualified for? So how are your actions going to reflect God's love? I'm certainly not ashamed of the Gospel."

Youth Leaders Dave & Caz just returned from their Cambodia Missions Trip. These guys are living Red 52! They took the Gospel to the other side of the world....

Here's Your Chance to Put Red 52 into action...

Life is Short. Eternity Isn't. - God

The Bible tells us that life is short in comparison to eternity. Take a quiet moment and think about the concept of eternity. It’s life never-ending…. never. It’s a strange concept from our human viewpoint. We are used to everything having a beginning and an end. Never-ending makes us all wonder what we will do in a never-ending situation. Perhaps we will get bored. Perhaps its perpetual torment. Perhaps we simply sit on fluffy white clouds, harp in hand, singing away.

The Bible urges us to take eternity seriously. It states clearly that there IS life after death. Life with God in Heaven or life away from God in Hell. Either way, eternity does exist. Your life, according to the Bible, is but a vapor. Some Bible translations use the word "smoke" or "fog". The allegory is that the few short years we live life on earth disappears quickly before we enter into eternity.

If that is our time on earth then it makes a lot of sense to take this puff of time and focus it on eternity. Where will you spend eternity? Sooner or later that is the question all of us must ask ourselves.

Like a thief in the night - when you least expect it

Why Red 52?

"I know of no one who has overstated the terror of Hell... We are meant to tremble and feel dread. We are not meant to recoil from the reality. Not by denying it, but by fleeing from it into the arms of Jesus, who died to save us from it." - John Piper.

Why red52? Because every day, thousands of people die and will spend an eternity APART from God, in hell. And NOW is the only time we have to impact people's eternal destinies. Red 52 can't just be a "nice" thing to do. Red 52 has to be something we LIVE - every day. You might get sick of hearing about it - but we don't care. We are always going to be talking red 52, living red 52, and pumping you for it. Telling your friends about your faith may not be the most comfortable thing to do - i think we can all agree on that, but as a Christian - as a follower of Christ - its really not optional. If you truly say that you are saved and love God - you cant help but share it with others. Will you take on the red 52 challenge?

Ok ok, i know they have aussie accents but check this out...

Next Tough Question: We Answer it!

How do I show my friend about Christianity when he doesn’t want to hear it?

We must show Him to the world by how we love one another. We can share what we know, but if it is rejected, we must not intrude. We must also keep in mind that God is sovereign. He already knows the end from the beginning. Though He graciously invites and allows us to participate in His eternal purposes, we hold no ultimate authority in these things.

Romans 8:28-30
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."

I believe the key word in your question is “show”. We are called to be “witnesses” and to “testify”. Just like in a court of law, our talk and our actions reflect what we’ve seen or experienced. Here’s my warning; If you want to be taken seriously, this shouldn’t be just a method of getting your friend “saved”. However if you are daily spending time with the Lord and His Word and His power are constantly impacting your life, your friend will be “shown”. Also I don’t believe that your friend can any less expect you to not talk about something so amazing any more than he (or she) would expect you not to talk about a boyfriend or girlfriend because it offends.

Acts 4:18-20 (The Message)
They called them back and warned them that they were on no account ever again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John spoke right back, "Whether it's right in God's eyes to listen to you rather than to God, you decide. As for us, there's no question—we can't keep quiet about what we've seen and heard."

Tough Question Of The Week #3

If someone came up to you on the street and asked you, "How do you get to heaven?" What would you tell them?

I would begin by dealing with what keeps us out. The most common misconception is when I hear people say “I’m a good person”, as if a good act could undo a bad one. As if you could “unbreak a heart” or “unpain” someone. If God is love, and we reject Him and His offer of love, it would be unkind of Him to force us to be where we don’t want to be, and with whom we don’t want to be. I would tell of the sin which we all carry, and point them to the things they only know, and nobody else. I would ask them to reflect on their secret things, and tell them how they have not only sinned against God, but their own consciences. Then I would tell them the good news. God sent His Son to take their place in being punished and separated from God in their place. I would lastly be sure to not only tell them about Jesus as Savior, but the terms of the relationship. Lord and property, King and subject, Master and servant. I would tell them that only in such a relationship can He be freely given the authority to own, and thus save us. I would be sure to tell them of the new life to the fullest which comes from this relationship. I would explain that it is never God rejecting men, but men rejecting God. He sent His Son to die so He could be with them totally, without the relationship interference of sin. How could that be rejection? I would then invite them to enter into this relationship on His terms, and see what He will do to change their lives, and their eternities.

Romans 3:21-25
"But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood."

Matthew 10:37-40
"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me"

Better than Celebrities!

"Pushed to the wall, I called to God; from the wide open spaces, he answered. God's now at my side and I'm not afraid; who would dare lay a hand on me? God's my strong champion; I flick off my enemies like flies. Far better to take refuge in God than trust in people; Far better to take refuge in God than trust in celebrities." Psalm 118:5 (Message)

Tough Question Of The Week #2

If all religions lead to some kind of heaven, then does is really matter who and what you believe in?

Believing something does not make it so. During the height of the 1960’s LSD craze, some people believed they could fly. They jumped from windows. Want to guess what happened? The faith one has is only as good as the Object of that faith. You can have faith in a rock, and it will actually help you and produce some results. When it is time to die, however, what power does that rock really have? Many religions have statements of truth which contradict one another. Christianity claims there is only one way to Heaven- faith in the atonement and person of Jesus, and a relationship with Him on His terms. The reason for the nature of this relationship (Lord and servant) is that only if you give Him authority over you voluntarily can He justly save you without violating your will. Either it’s true or it’s not. Some other belief systems can be true at the same time. If two contradict, one must be false. It’s what we call the "Law of non-contradiction", and one of the ‘Laws of logic".

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Barbers Don't Exist!

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: 'I don't believe that God exists.'

'Why do you say that?' asked the customer.

'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things.'

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: 'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'

'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'

'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.’

‘Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me.'

'Exactly!'- affirmed the customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'
